Musk’s Goal To Rescue Humanity From AI Guided Him To Invent Neuralink In Monkey’s Brain Which Helps Him Play Pong With His Mind.
A new video has been shared by Elon Musk’s Neuralink startup. The video shows a monkey named Pager, wired up with chips that helps him play Pong in computer without the assistance of his hands.
What is Neuralink ?
Neuralink Corporation is a neurotechnology company whose founder is Elon Musk and few others, working to develop Implantable brain – machine interfaces(BMIs). It is a device that will be inserted in your brain surgically, helping you to communicate with machines via your brain.

Elon Musk has always been concerned about Artificial Intelligence taking over humans and their jobs in the coming years. This made him create Neuralink as an answer to the issue. His earlier goal to this technology was to assist people with severe neurological conditions preventing them to use their arms and legs.
What Does The Video Show Us ?
It’s a three minutes video show casing Pager, the monkey controlling a slider in the game without the use of its hands. The video narrator says that there are two implants in the brain parts that control hands and legs movement. The devices are known as link.
“Today we are pleased to reveal the Link’s capability to enable a macaque monkey, named Pager, to move a cursor on a computer screen with neutral activity using a 1,024 electrode fully-implanted neural recording and data transmission device, termed the N1 Link,” Neuralink says in a paper.
“We have implanted the Link in the hand and arms areas of the motor cortex, a part of the brain that is involved in planning and executing movements. We placed Links bilaterally: one in the left motor cortex (which controls movements of the right side of the body) and another in the right motor cortex (which controls the left side of the body).”
Mark’s summary of the video was: “Monkey plays Pong with his mind.”
The video’s narrator says, “This is Pager, he’s a nine year old macaque who had a Neuralink placed in each side of his brain, about six weeks ago.”
“If you look carefully, you can see that the fur on his head hasn’t quite fully grown back yet. He’s learnt how to interact with a computer for a tasty banana smoothy delivered through a straw.”
“As you can see, he’s focused and he’s playing entirely of his own volition,” the narrator said.
